I feel I have come a long way from my first photographs taken at age seven. I grew up visiting many areas of the southwest and learned to love its diversity of terrain and awesome skies. I look for that special sight in nature and then strive to record that split second of multifaceted light that becomes a permanent record to share with others.
During high school and college I took black-and-white photography courses to learn the basics of film development and printing. I also took many kinds of art classes along with pencil and ink drafting which gave me training in layout, perspective of images, presentation, and architecture appreciation. The rest is experience, many clicks of the camera, and an eye for perspective, composition, and color.
My favorite is to travel the back roads. This has taken me to the diverse countryside of the southwest and beyond with opportunities to take pictures of many different landscapes, nature, architecture, and people. It is also exciting to find visual treasures in seemingly everyday occurrences and turn them into art.
Currently my works have been taken with a digital camera and professionally printed on Fuji archival papers. Although I love color photography I am delving more into black & white imagery. Very often the textures and details are more evident when viewed in monochrome tones.
