BACKGROUND
Albuquerque Photographers Gallery was founded in 2003 as Albuquerque's first cooperative venture dedicated to promoting and exhibiting only contemporary fine art photography. Photographer Marilyn Hunter initiated and presented the idea to Albuquerque's Enchanted Lens Camera Club, resulting in eleven other photographers joining Marilyn in the venture. Membership in the Co-op is now juried and limited to ten photographers.
MISSION STATEMENT
Under the basic premise that fine art photography is indeed fine art, the gallery seeks to achieve the following:

Provide a venue for local photographers to exhibit and sell their work.

Advance and enrich the public's understanding and appreciation of fine art photography, it's characteristics and quality.

Integrating with local arts organizations and arts events to promote fine art photography as a major element of and participant in, the visual arts.

Provide a nurturing and challenging environment where photographers can meet and discuss their work.
GOALS OF THE GALLERY

Increase gallery recognition and visibility by participating in arts events and hosting regular gallery events while exploring other opportunities.

Conduct both general shows and photographer-specific events at least 6 times a year.

Conduct theme exhibits three times a year.

Provide seminars to public groups and organizations , present artwork, and help clarify why it is fine art.
