Conrad Sloop

We are fortunate to live in this land of unimaginable diversity and beauty! From mountains to deserts, lakes to  rivers, canyons to peaks, this is the wilderness I love to  hike into with my camera to capture nature's grandeur.

My goal is to simplify and focus on unique and interesting subjects with dramatic lighting. I feel an inner exhilaration when I see a magnificent scene and I would  like you to experience some of that same excitement when you view my photographs.

I have been photographing this wilderness for more than 40 years. A majority of my images are captured with a medium-format film camera (2-1/4" X 2-1/4" size film). My transparencies are scanned on a $70,000 scanner and digitally printed by a professional color lab using the archival Ultrachrome pigment process. These prints yield superior sharpness, color accuracy and permanency.

My photographs are taken without enhancing, warming or graduated type filters or computer manipulations.  When you look at my photographs, you see these images exactly as I saw them in the camera viewfinder.

My photographs have won awards from the Newport Beach, Calif. Camera Club, the prestigious Southern California Council of Camera Clubs including 'best of shows' and International Photo Salons. My 'Poppies Abound' photograph was on the front cover of the '1996 Kodak desk calendar.

As a design engineer for 38 years, I worked for 3 different companies. During this time I started my own business designing, manufacturing and selling photographic products.

My life long passion has always been photography! My mentors are Ansel Adams, David Muench & Eliot Porter.

I hope my photographs show you a little bit of natures magnificence.
