Kent WinchesterGreat photographers have come to the Southwest since photography's earliest days. One of the best, Eliot Porter, called it a “land that gets into one's blood and bones.” Beginning with William Henry Jackson, Timothy O'Sullivan, and Edward Curtis; continuing with Edward Weston, Paul Strand, Ansel Adams; and on to Laura Gilpin and Lee Marmon and many others; photographers have come to the southwest looking through their lenses and creating great photographs.
The challenge for today's photographers; to see afresh, interpret differently, and create new art for you to enjoy in your homes and offices, remains the timeless challenge for all artists. Fortunately, in this land of clear light and cloud shadow, much remains to photograph. I know. I've been here my entire life shooting first film, then digital, and now both. We all hope you like what you see here. Enjoy your visit and look at my personal website, http://www.landofclearlight.com/ Kent |
